Saturday Psalm & Praise - Battle Hymn Of The Republic
Saturday, April 26, 2008
I just learned the entire song a few weeks ago. But, it has always been a favourite, even if I am off-tune when I sing it! :o)
by Julia W. Howe, 1819-1910
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord,
He is tramping out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed His fateful lightening of His terrible swift sword,
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
His truth is marching on!
I have seen Him in the watchfires of an hundred circling camps,
They have builded Him an alter in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps,
His day is marching on.
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
His day is marching on!
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me;
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
God is marching on.
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
Glory, glory hallelujah!
God is marching on!
I am thinking this song was put to fit into the future battle where the devil will be defeated. I know that the first verse was from Revelation, "Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord, He is tramping out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed His fateful lightening of His terrible swift sword, His truth is marching on." The Sword that came out of His mouth; the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored... hmm... Look it up. :)
I hope you are participating in the Saturday Psalm & Praise Meme. It's so easy to participate in a meme; you just post a post!

I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts of a fourteen-year-old girl from the country."You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!" Philippians 4:13
